PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.
Schools use this framework to support the whole child by creating a positive space where the student feels support for their mental health, physical health, emotional well-being, academics, and much more. This creates a learning environment where students and teachers feel safe and encouraged.
PBIS is evidence-based and schools that use the system frequently check to reflect on what is working and what is not. Read more about the data behind PBIS.
How does that come into play at Wesley?
Each month, Wesley celebrates students who receive Positive Office Referrals.
Positive Office Referrals are a great opportunity to celebrate students who may not always receive positive acknowledgment. These forms of positive recognition highlight specific moments, not necessarily how a student has behaved throughout the month.
Last month, students from the first semester were recognized with a celebration.
