Ms. Crystal Hudson is Wesley’s K-2 Assistant Principal, mother to her “beautiful little girl”, and a dog mom. A self-proclaimed Atlanta Falcons fan, you can find her volunteering in her community, serving with her local church, and enjoying hobbies like fashion and home decor.
Ms. Hudson’s journey at Wesley began in 2019 as the instructional coach. During those first two years, she began to feel a personal responsibility to ensure the success of every K-2 student. This led her to step into the Assistant Principal role in 2021.
“[It] can be challenging but also offers so much joy. Seeing young students grow and learn is truly rewarding and keeps me motivated to do this work.”
The “close-knit, family feel” of the Wesley community drew her to the school, and she has cherished the relationships she has been able to build with colleagues and families here. These are the people who she leans on as the school continues to grow and step into new opportunities.
“The most exciting part of my job is that no two days are the same! Each day I'm welcomed with new opportunities to help support students and teachers. I love the direction we are headed in and am excited to be part of that growth.”
As Ms. Hudson reflects on her time at Wesley, one impactful story comes to mind: “I always think back to my first experience of teaching a first grade struggling learner to read. The confidence built in that child helps me to remember why I'm here. Though my role looks very different now, the students will always be most important to me, and they are the reason that I continue to love what I do."
