Wesley's Sights Are Aimed at the Future: Meet Jason Marshall
"Wesley has seen tremendous change and growth over the last 8 years," says Marshall. "We've had our charter renewed twice in the last 8 years. We were named one of only two APS schools as a Title 1 school of distinction. Wesley is on track to become a STEM-certified school. We just underwent gymnasium and auditorium renovations. And then there are the soon-to-come 8 million dollars in upgrades to the facility."
Clearly, Marshall has his and Wesley's sights aimed at the future!
A Native Georgian, Jason Marshall is at home serving the diverse Wesley community in Atlanta. Marshall began his tenure as Executive Director of Wesley International Academy in 2016 after serving as principal of Fernbank Elementary, a successful traditional elementary school in Dekalb County.
Marshall began his journey in education with a degree in Child Development at the Morehouse College. He then gained his Master’s degree in Administration Planning and Social Policy from Harvard Graduate School of Education. In his eleven years at Fernbank Elementary, he led the thriving school and was named Principal of the Year for Dekalb County Schools (2015-16).
Meet Dr. Raymond Edwards: Looking Ahead to a New School Year at Wesley
For families who may be meeting you for the first time, can you tell us a little about yourself and what drew you to Wesley?
My name is Dr. Raymond Edwards, and this will be my fourth year at Wesley. I'm originally from New York but came to Atlanta to attend Morehouse College and have proudly called it home ever since.
I'm entering my 18th year in education after spending 10 years as a teacher and the past eight years in school leadership. I had long admired Wesley's reputation and was especially drawn to its commitment to student success, charter school innovation, and the International Baccalaureate program. I'm grateful to be part of this community and excited for what lies ahead.
