Our active PTSA supports the needs of students, parents and faculty of the school.

It’s Election Time for 2014-2015 School Year!

The nominating committee is responsible for selecting and presenting the slate of officers at the PTSA General Assembly and election meeting on Tuesday April 29, 2014.

WIA PTSA positions: President, Executive Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, VPs for Auction, Communications, Enrichment, Fundraising, Green & Healthy, Membership, Parental Involvement.

The Nominating Committee will review nominations for elected offices, may conduct interviews and submit a Nominating Committee report to the Board of Directors and to members of the PTSA at the election meeting.

President -­‐ Lexie Hautau
Lexie and her family have been part of the Wesley community for 6 years. Her daughter Lily will be entering Middle School next year. She is currently serving as PTSA President for the 13-­‐14 school year. Because of this, Lexie already has a good knowledge of the procedures, policies, and bylaws of the PTSA. Lexie has also started the Reading Marathon which raises funds for the Library and the PTSA. She also has more ideas that she wants to contribute to the 14‐15 school year. Lexie hopes to get more teachers involved in the mini-­grant program and make strides to get the students more involved in the PTSA’s events and activities. She truly desires the students to strive! Lexie loves Wesley and everything it stands for!

Secretary -­‐ Angela Russell
Angela is the parent of two boys rising 6th and 4th graders. A former Director of Operations with Turner Broadcasting and highly engaged parent volunteer. Angela is excited to join the efforts of the PTSA to support the school.

Treasurer -­‐ Erin Ashley
Erin mother of two boys is happy to share her financial skills as Treasurer. She looks forward to helping the school.

VP Membership -­‐ Anisha Moring
Anisha is the Parent of a Fourth grader at WIA, MacKenzie. Her family has been at Wesley family for 5 years and PTSA members for 5 of those years. she has also served as the Merchandising Committee Chair for the 10‐11 school year and VP of Fundraising for school years 11‐12 and 12­‐13. She currently serves on the Dine‐Out Subcommittee for InterAtlanta FC (non-­profit soccer organization) and as team manager for her daughter’s club soccer team. She would love to return to the board to explore additional fundraising ideas and opportunities, with input from Wesley parents and friends. She will work hard to increase fundraising numbers.

VP Green & Healthy -­‐ Erica Jong
Erica is the mother to a 4th grade boy and 6th grade girl. She has been part of the WIA community since it opened its doors in 2007 when her daughter entered as a kindergarten student. Erica and her family considers Wesley their extended family and are invested in its success for every child and family at the school. As a former owner of one of Atlanta’s first organic children’s business, she is committed to staying informed and engaged in environmental issues. Over the years, she has played an active role in supporting a recycling program, outdoor garden education program, and promoting health and nutrition at Wesley. Now that we are in a new building, Erica would like to help promote a more comprehensive recycling program and increase the K-­‐12 curriculum pertaining environmental and health topics. To foster IB characteristics of being caring, knowledgeable, principled, balanced, and open-­‐minded, I would also like to help facilitate extra-­curricular projects that engage the IB students in being environmental stewards of the community around them.

VP Parent Involvement: Kamilah Konrad
Kamilah has worked for more than 15 combined years at Big Brothers Big Sisters and American Cancer Society, two Atlanta based nonprofits. She has also served on numerous community boards, such as WIA PTSA from 2011‐2014 as Treasurer and Chair of Parent Involvement, Grant Park Cooperative Preschool from 2006­‐2007 as Parent Education and Involvement Co-­Chair, and founding Board member for The Enchanted Closet in 2004. Serving on the Board from 2004 to 2006. Kamilah has been a WIA Class Parent every year since 2007.

Angela Hornsby
Angela is the mother of a first grader at Wesley and a 2 year old. She has served on the aucNon commiZee for the last two years. Angela has spent over 10 years working for non-­‐profits. She familiar with fundraising and has experience with finance, strategic planning and record keeping. Angela thinks the auction is such a great time and she can not wait to start planning for next year!

Marie Mower
Marie has lived in Grant Park community since 2006 and she is an Atlanta native. She has one child in Kindergarden. She currently serves as the Grant Park Neighborhood Association’s Parks and Recreation Chair. I am active with the Grant Park Conservancy’s Park Improvement Committee and Wesley’s Fundraising Committee (school board fundraising committee which recently created the school’s annual fund). Marie is also a room parent and she established the Friends of Ormond in Grant Park to make improvements at the neighborhood park. Marie served as the Grant Park Parent Network President in 2012. She also likes to mountain bike, go walking through the woods, and playing the piano.
