At Wesley, we are developing global citizens to be engaged and active in the world. We recognize the advantages of learning a second language, including increased cognitive function, strengthened problem solving skills, and broader social connections. Bilingualism can also be an advantage for students entering the global marketplace in the future.
Roughly a billion people in the world speak Mandarin Chinese, and it is the official language of China, Taiwan and Singapore. It has become increasingly popular as a second language study in the United States, including with celebrities such as Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
Wesley’s Chinese Program
Our Chinese program is well-known and respected throughout Georgia for its commitment to students’ language proficiency, cultural knowledge, and global perspective. Students in all grades receive 45 minutes of daily Chinese instruction from state certified Mandarin teachers. Our curriculum includes listening, speaking, reading and writing. Teachers incorporate music, songs, movement, writing exercises, art, and projects into their classroom experience.
For additional information on our Chinese program, please visit our Chinese Department blog for details on curriculum and departmental events.
China Summer Programme

Little International Ambassadors
In the summer of 2017, four selected Wesley MYP students participated in a summer camp hosted by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) in Beijing. Wesley students joined a group of twenty students from five continents for this “Chinese Bridge for International Culture Little Ambassadors” program. Participants studied Chinese language, experience traditional Chinese culture together with local Chinese students, and toured famous historical sites. Learn more about this program.
