Helpful Info Before the First Day of School

Technology for All Students

We are excited that Wesley will be able to provide a laptop to every Wesley student this year! Last spring, we had one per family available, but we are offering additional devices this fall so every student will have technology access. Also, for students in grades K-2, we have acquired more developmentally appropriate touch-screen Chromebooks for them to use going forward. We are so grateful to our Wesley community for donating to the Red Thread fund, which has made this expanded technology access possible for all our students.

You will be able to pick-up your device(s) during the PYP and MYP Meet & Greets (details and schedule below).

Please reach out to school principals or assistant principals (PYP – Dr. Satterfield and Ms. Goodman and MYP – Dr. Mason and Dr. Pullen) with any additional questions.

An Overview of Your Chromebook

Download this quick guide to Wesley Chromebooks. It gives you an overview of how log into the device and other tips such as connecting to the home internet.

A Parent’s Guide to Google Classrooms

As you prepare for beginning school virtually on August 4, we want to help you understand and navigate Google Classrooms. Here is a parent’s guide that will help you get set up.

Meet & Greets: July 29 – Aug 3

We will host Meet & Greets July 29-August 3. This event will provide an opportunity for your child to meet their teacher and classmates in a socially distanced environment. It is also the time to pick up technology devices. We are grateful to the PTSA for helping to facilitate this event for a great start to the year!

Parents, please also bring any library books you still have at home. We will have a place for you to drop them off. Thank you!

Please adhere to the times for your student (schedule below) as it is very important for us to keep within the CDC and local authorities’ guidance of large gatherings.

If you are unable to make the assigned time, please reach out to Rachel Goodman. Wesley will have make-up hours from 3:00-4:00 pm every day after the Meet & Greets. Unfortunately, during the make-up times, you will not have an opportunity to meet your teacher face-to-face.

Once again, the health and safety of our students, staff, and families are our number one priority. Therefore, please adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Parents are required to wear masks. Children over the age of 10 are required to wear masks. For children under 10, masks are highly encouraged. Disposable masks will be available if needed.

  • Temperatures will be checked upon arrival. Anyone with a temperature of over 100 degrees will be asked to go home.
  • Please have only one guardian attend with the child in order to keep our numbers below the guidance for large gatherings.

  • Please adhere to the schedule and time slots.

  • As tempting as it will be, please encourage your children to practice social distancing by giving air hugs and air high fives!

Wesley’s Red Thread Fund

Wesley’s Red Thread Annual Fund is a school-wide fundraising effort that supports classroom teachers and students, while providing funds for creative, innovative programs at our school. It covers the difference between what the state provides in funding and what it costs to deliver an outstanding education.

We rely on the generous support of our teachers and staff, Wesley families, and community partners. This fund has been instrumental in purchasing technology for every student during this season of digital learning. We know this is a difficult time for many families, but if you are in a position to give, we thank you for supporting Wesley. Learn more and donate at the Wesley website today.

You’re Invited to Join the PTSA

The PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) is open to all parents, teachers, students, staff members, caregivers, extended family members, and community friends who care about our school.

The PTSA fosters community through school-wide events, volunteer opportunities, the Wesley store, and meetings. It enriches our student experience and provides a way for families to connect with other parents and staff and support the work of the school.

To join the PTSA, visit the Wesley Store online and click “Membership.” Add the $5 membership to your cart. Enter your information at check-out. It’s that simple!
