On Saturday, September 20 Wesley students were invited to participate in the Jane Goodall Roots and Shoots day of Compassion, Action and Peace at the Delta Flight Museum. There were some great workshops, as well as tables from various teens that have created amazing projects to combat an environmental or humanitarian issue near their homes. Also, some great connections were made with local environmental organizations. The day culminated with a talk by keynote speaker Jane Goodall.
The greatest highlight of the day for all of us there with Wesley was that WIA was chosen to be filmed throughout the day and in a private session with Jane Goodall for her upcoming documentary with National Geographic! Ms. Goodall is an extraordinary woman, so personable and passionate and humble! We were so touched by her gentle spirit and the way she persisted in her life in the things she knew in her heart to be true for both animals and people! A truly unforgettable experience! We are so very grateful for such a treasured opportunity!
